Silver Top Car Color Choice for 2009

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Silver continues to be the favorite color for new cars in North America. Survey results show that about 57% of new cars are either silver of black in color.

This year is the ninth in which silver has been the most popular color for new cars. Todays silver paint is much more advanced than that which was used when it first became the most popular new car color. Paint technology and car spraying techniques and systems are constantly improving enabling car makers to offer ever increasing ranges of colors for their vehicles.

But while silver, black and white remain at the top of car buyers favored colors Ford has had some success with more eye-catching colors like pale blue, known as Grabber Blue and Molten Orange. There is a new, compact Ford Fiesta due to arrive in the US in 2010 and this will be made avaiable in a range of much brighter, vibrant colors including bright green and red as well as the popular silver, black and white.

Around 37% of the small car in Europe, where the market for this size is very strong, tend to be more varied in their colors using reds, green, brown and blue.

Auto manufacturers have also become far more interested in making their interiors more attractive by using accent colors. New paints are being introduced that include glass particles that make the paint shimmer and shine.

Many believe that color can have a profound psychological effect. Red, for example, has been said to stimulate the body and mind whereas blue is believed to have a calming, soothinig effect. Many psychologists thinke that color therapy is ineffective.

The most popular color choice for new cars fifteen years ago was green with only about 1% of new cars in silver. Color fashions can change with the wind making it near impossible to predict the next hot trend.

A Review of the New Prius

Monday, November 30th, 2009

The 2010 Toyota Prius raises the stakes in the hybrid world. The Prius continually gets the best gas mileage of all hybrids today. The little Toyota is fitted with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine, which is up from the past 1.5L.The new Prius has a larger engine, increased torque, and lower gearing that improve fuel economy.Horsepower is up 50 for the 2010 model.

Teh new Prius will get better fuel economy by about 4 MPG.Hypermiling techniques can net more than 75 MPG out of a Prius! The Prius has been lightened enough to affect the fuel economy. The stiffer body helps deduct the noise and vibration from the engine as well as the transmission.

Steering has been enhanced via disc brakes and angling of the wheels. Features that were optional on previous models such as: air, CD, and power winds, doors, and locks; now come standard for 2010. Some accessories available on the new Prius are a back-up camera, HID headlamps, gauge controls, and a nav system.

Energy usually wasted by braking is used to charge the battery pack. The new Prius has earned a top spot in terms of safety. Many options avaialble are the air bag for the driver knee, a safety connect system similar to on-star, and traction control.

See the new Prius and a nice inventory of other hybrids at San Jose Toyota.  The Prius has been named top green car for the past few years.  And why shouldn’t it.  The Prius gets great gas mileage which saves gas, in turn putting less strain on the environment.  Not to mention is is a low emissions vehicle.  The PRius is an honored car that does a great job of keeping its resale value.  So if you cannot afford to buy a brand new 2010 Prius, go ahead and look for a nice used model.  You will pay less, get a capable car, and even get a used car warranty if you buy a certified Toyota hybrid.

The Difference Between The Good And The Bad Vehicle Dismantlers

Monday, November 30th, 2009

When a vehicle comes to the end of its useful life it is usually a pretty messed up moment for the owner. Let’s face it how many of us actually save every week or month for the cost of the new vehicle we or our business will buy at the end of the life cycle of the one we own now? In an ideal world we would all have a little savings plan that enabled us to have enough to buy a new vehicle at the end of the life of the old one. So there we are in the yard or outside our house and the van is dead and beyond economic repair what do we do?

That’s where the vehicle dismantlers come in to the picture. They are on the end of a phone and there are many in the yellow pages or online. You give them a ring and before long a truck turns up with a crane or Hiab on the back and for a small fee they will take it away for you. But what actually happens to it? The responsible dismantlers will have a licence from the government that proves they are capable and careful in the disposal of vehicles that have reached the end of their natural lives.

The van contains some nasty chemicals and compounds which have to be disposed of in a safe and effective manner. This is where the difference comes in between the good and the bad van breakers. The good guys will take each of these compounds, liquids or chemicals and store them in the safely prescribed manner. Whereas the not so good guys will just dump them anywhere they can get away with it.

The rest of the van may have been useless as a whole but its parts are almost certainly not all broken and a careful dismantler can salvage these van parts and van spares for use by other vehicles. This is the ultimate way of disposing of a vehicle – use some parts to make a newer vehicle run again, send some for scrapping and recycling to new metal and the rest disposed of in a safe and effective manner.

Buyers can add specific options like smart cruise control or iPod docking. A must-see for all buyers, the 2009 Infiniti FX35 is a refined crossover with prime quality, performance, and style.
